Archive Grid
Archive Grid is a database that collects information about archival holdings in national and international institutions. Thousands of libraries, museums, and archives worldwide contribute collection descriptions.
Art and Architecture Source
Art and Architecture Source is a merger of several art-specific databases including Art Index Retrospective and Art Full Text, with much added content. Coverage dates back to 1929 for some journals and full-text is offered for a portion of the database.
Art & Architecture Thesaurus
Art & Architecture Thesaurus, maintained by the Getty Research Institute, is a structured vocabulary of terms and descriptions relating to art, architecture, decorative arts and material culture.
ArtBibliographies Modern
ArtBibliographies Modern indexes major contemporary art magazines and journals focusing on the contemporary arts, design, and photography from 1974–present. ABM contains abstracts of English and foreign-language articles, books, exhibition catalogs, exhibition reviews and dissertations. Entries date back to the 1960s, though full coverage begins in 1974 when entries began being digitized.
Avalanche Index
Avalanche Index is an index to Willoughby Sharp and Liza Béar’s influential journal, Avalanche, produced between 1970-1976. As of January 2014, only journals 1-10 are fully indexed. Numbers 11-13 are in progress.
Avery Index to Architecture Periodicals
Avery Index to Architecture Periodicals is a comprehensive index of the literature published in the fields of architecture, urban design and planning, archaeology, interior design and historic preservation. Coverage begins in the 1930s (with selective coverage dating back to the 1740s) and continues to the present.
Bard College Digital Commons
Bard College Digital Commons holds and distributes scholarly content generated by the Bard College Community. Research and scholarly output included here has been selected and deposited by the individual university departments and centers on campus.
BHA (Bibliography of the History of Art)
BHA (Bibliography of the History of Art) maintained by the Getty Research Institute, is an index of citations to art-related articles published in over 1,200 European and American journals from 1974-2007.
Catalogues Raisonnés
Catalogues Raisonnés maintained by IFAR (International Foundation for Art Research), is a database of published catalogues raisonnés, with an accompanying database for those in publication. They focus on painting, works on paper, sculpture and photography; and to a lesser degree, architecture, design, graphic works/prints.
Contemporary Culture Index (ccindex)
Contemporary Culture Index (ccindex) is an index of selected influential periodicals which are not found in the larger research databases. The material included prioritizes small journals produced outside of the conventional academic sphere, non-Western, and out of print publications.
Contemporary Artists Index
Contemporary Artists Index is an index of contemporary artists and artist groups included in group exhibition catalogs held by the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Cultural Objects Name Authority (CONA)
Cultural Objects Name Authority (CONA) is the pilot release of the Getty Research Institute’s index of titles, attributions, depicted subjects and other metadata about works of art, architecture and cultural heritage, both extant and historical.
Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is an online directory that indexes and provides access to quality open access, peer-reviewed journals.
Dissertations and Theses Global A&I: The Humanities and Social Sciences Collection
Dissertations and Theses Global A&I: The Humanities and Social Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database providing citations and abstracts of graduate level research in the humanities and social sciences. Covers over 1,700 graduate schools and universities worldwide.
Ebsco Academic Search Premier
Ebsco Academic Search Premier provides citations and abstracts for 8,500 journals in the arts, humanities and sciences. Full-text is available for more than 4,600 of their titles.

J-STOR
J-STOR is an interdisciplinary full-text digital archive containting full runs of historic journals and monographs, as well as nearly 200 current journals. Content is delivered in PDF format and is fully searchable. Each journal’s availability is subject to a “moving wall,” or lag between the most current published issue and when the content can be released via J-STOR.

Nexis Uni offers full-text access to over 6,000 government, news, business and legal publications. Coverage varies for each publication held within it.
Oxford English Dictionary
Oxford English Dictionary is an historical dictionary containing over 500,000 words. Considered an authority in etymological research, each definition is accompanied by quotations from a wide range of printed literature and lists variant spellings, which illuminate the evolution of the word.
Oxford Art Online
Oxford Art Online (formerly Grove Art Online) brings four major reference resources–Grove Art Online, The Oxford Companion to Western Art, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and the Concise Dictionary of Art Terms–together in one location. Providing encyclopedic subject entries and biographies, with bibliographical references and links to related images, Oxford Art Online is a strong source for Western and non-Western art-historical research. Entries are authored and peer-reviewed by subject experts and content is updated and revised three time per year.
Project Muse
Project Muse is a full-text database of over 400 peer-reviewed, scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences. Most coverage begins between 1995-2000, though some journals are available in full runs.
Serials Directory
Serials Directory available through EBSCOhost, provides the most current information about U.S. and international periodicals, including ISSNs and pricing structures.
Thesaurus of Geographic Names (TGN)
Thesaurus of Geographic Names (TGN) maintained by the Getty Research Institute, is a structured vocabulary with over 1,000,000 names, descriptions, and coordinates of places important to the study of art and architecture.
Union List of Artist Names (ULAN)
Union List of Artist Names (ULAN) also maintained by the Getty Research Institute, is a structured vocabulary capturing names of artists and architects and their variants. Brief biographical and bibliographical information is also included.
WorldCat (or FirstSearch)
WorldCat (or FirstSearch) is a union catalog of OCLC member libraries’ holdings worldwide. It provides bibliographic records for all of their cataloged items and often includes media and archival holdings.
Multimedia Resources
ARTstor
ARTstor is a digital image library consisting of more than 1,000,000 items in the field of art and architecture. Images are contributed by special collections libraries, museums, archives, scholars and individual photographers and are accompanied by related descriptive information. Included are tools to assist in viewing, managing and presenting the images.
Bard College Visual Resource Center
Bard College Visual Resource Center maintains and provides access to Bard’s digital image and 35mm slide collections. They also host links to sites indispensable for image research.
Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI)
Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI) Educational Streaming Site provides full-length streaming access to a portion of the EAI catalog.
