Summer guthery
Summer Guthery is a curator, writer, and educator based in New York City. She is the co-founder and director of times, a nonprofit space for experimental exhibitions, and previously served as Artistic Director and Senior Curator of Canal Projects. She is also the founder of JOAN, a nonprofit exhibition space in Los Angeles. Over the past 15 years, Guthery has held curatorial roles at Performa Biennial, LAXART, and Disjecta, and has taught at Bard College, UC Riverside, CalArts, and SVA. She holds an MA in Curatorial Studies from Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies. A regular contributor to Frieze, her writing has also appeared in Artforum, ArtReview, and Art in America. Her work focuses on supporting artists through experimental exhibitions, writing, and nonprofit institutions.
