Vic Brooks is curator of time-based visual art at EMPAC / Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and chair of the Contemporary Curatorial Workshop at the Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art. She works with the Calder Foundation to commission artists moving image, and is a founding member of research and production collective 13BC. Brooks commissions and produces new works in the expanded field of moving image, visual arts, and performance with artists such as Tarek Atoui, Rosa Barba, Boudry/Lorenz, Lucy Raven, Andros Zins-Browne / Karthik Pandian, and Agnès Varda. Recent EMPAC commissions include Charles Atlas, Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener’s Tesseract, Martine Syms’ An Evening With Queen White, and Laure Prouvost’s They Are Waiting for You. She is currently working with Ephraim Asili, Wu Tsang and boychild, Anna Craycroft, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, Ana Navas, and James Richards on new productions.
