Sarah Rifky is a writer and curator. She is the co-founder of Beirut, an art institution in Cairo (2012-2015). Ms. Rifky was co-curator of the Jogjakarta Biennale XII (2013), curator of Townhouse (2009-2011) and curator for dOCUMENTA(13) (2012). She also co-managed MASS Alexandria (2010-2012), and has taught Art History and Theory at the American University in Cairo (2010). She is the co-editor of Positionen: Zeitgenössische Künstler aus der Arabischen Welt (2013), and the author of The Going Insurrection (2012), in addition to numerous essays and stories. Ms. Rifky is a doctoral student in the History, Theory and Criticism program and the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
